FAQ

At Beechtree Steiner Initiative, we strive to maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio in our kindergarten. Typically, we have one teacher for every ten children, which allows us to give individualized attention to each child and their needs.

What is the curriculum and daily schedule for children in your kindergarten?

Our kindergarten follows the Steiner Waldorf curriculum, which emphasizes play-based learning and creative, holistic education. Our daily schedule includes a balance of indoor and outdoor activities, such as circle time, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and free play. We also provide healthy snacks and meals for the children.

What is the discipline policy for children who misbehave?

We believe in using positive discipline methods that encourage children to take responsibility for their actions and learn from their mistakes. Our teachers work closely with parents to address any behavioral issues and find appropriate solutions. We do not use physical punishment or shaming as disciplinary measures.

Are there extracurricular activities offered at your kindergarten?

Yes, we offer a range of extracurricular activities for children, such as gardening, cooking, yoga, and foreign language classes. These activities are designed to enhance their learning and provide opportunities for exploration and discovery.

My family have been part of the Beechtree Community for over 4 years, attending the parent & child groups, the kindergarten and now the schools’ class years. I couldn’t have asked for a better start for my children. At Beechtree every day feels like a blessing; the staff are absolutely wonderful and so are the families that choose Beechtree. It is difficult to put into words how amazing this school is! Beechtree is so magical, it provides such a loving, attentive and creative framework for childcare. There isn’t a single day goes by that I’m not grateful for this opportunity of receiving Steiner education for my children in Leeds.

After attending a Steiner school myself, the fact that there is one in an inner city location in Leeds has been a dream come true. My son is exited to attend school for the first time in his educational career, and does not want to leave at the end of the day. The school built around such a loving and supportive community, and the staff are amazing. This school needs more people to know how wonderful it is.

I honestly love this place like a second home. My daughter has been going here since she was a few weeks old, from the most gently nurturing, non-judgemental and supportive parent-child group, through an idyllic child-centred kindergarten (both indoors and outdoors), and now she is 9 and attends the small school with the most dedicated, supportive staff. She can read better than many adults, write comprehensively, has social skills beyond typical age expectations, but also is an imaginative and critical thinker. She has been given the space and adult support to develop these skills her own way and if we could do it all again I honestly would not change anything for her

Beechtree is a beautiful environment in which your child can flourish in ways you never knew possible. The approach to teaching is gentle and encouraging. For anyone with a child that is more on the reserved side this can be a huge comfort. The bonds built between the children, the teachers and the parents is fantastic and rare. I was initially homeschooling and couldn't find the environment I felt best suited for my child. Although, homeschooling was becoming challenging for a number of reasons. Just when I thought I would have to resort to a more mainstream establishment I came across beechtree. My daughter has Come on leaps and bounds when it comes to socialising. Her confidence is through the roof and her empathy is more and more developed each day. She is extremely eager to learn and tells me she wishes there was no weekends so she could learn at school everyday 😂 I'm so grateful 🙏🏽 Can not recommend enough 💛 The fees are a small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes with sending your child to beechtree.
