Room lacked ambience with collection of modern furniture which didn't match. Breakfast was spent asking staff to refill the breakfast bar and mushrooms took so long we finished before the new batch arrived. Rooms : 3/5 | Service : 4/5 | Location : 4/5 Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet … More

Had a fab few days at Bartley Lodge. Was looking for a quiet getaway in peaceful surroundings. The staff were friendly, the room was airy and homely. The while small was great for unwinding after a day's walking. The food was tasty and enjoyed with a view over the gardens. Rooms : 5/5 | Service : 5/5 | Location : 4/5 Hotel highlights Quiet … More

I did not stay here but I would consider it. Stopped to have a cup of tea while we charged the car. There were some nice details and it was a great place to sit and feel unhurried. Lovely location in the new forest with no rush to do anything. Some lovely books to sit in and the shortbread was lovely (and complimentary).

Lovely location in the New Forest. Room and some areas of the hotel a little tired and in need of a bit of TLC but clean and comfortable. Friendly accommodating staff. Hotel seemed quite quiet during our stay and staff seemed to be minimal which is understandable. Breakfast and evening meal pleasant although not AA rosette standard as advertised. Spacious car park with EV charger which was an added bonus and helped to make our stay stress free. We didn't use the pool but it looked very nice.

Poor quality at a premium price. We stayed over the Easter weekend with our 5-month old baby and were hoping for a nice relaxing break. However it wasn't like that from the moment we arrived. We were told the lift was out of order and they refused to offer us a room on the ground floor. We had to climb 4 sets of stairs with the baby, luggage and pushchair. The receptionist offered to store the pushchair downstairs but for us it was further inconvenience. The manager offered £20 off which was laughable as it was merely 0.04% of the total cost! We couldn't sleep the first night as the room was very hot. The radiator in the bathroom was set at the highest temperature and we couldn't turn it down as the thermostat was broken. They fixed it the following day but you can't get your sleep back. There are signs in the hotel saying about the commitment to the environment. This is contradictory to the way they operate the hotel. On the last day we were told we couldn't use the swimming pool because of the low chlorine level. We only found out on the way to the swimming pool, there was no advanced notification and they knew about it the night before. The only reason we booked the hotel was because of the location and the swimming pool. Had I known about the lift not working in advance, we would've saved ourselves £200 by staying in a spa hotel near Southampton. I am awaiting a response from the manager as I am not happy that they charged me a full amount for all the inconveniences.

I was happy. Pleasant vibe, there's a bar, breakfast was tasty, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. There was a small hiccup with the hot water in the room originally assigned to me, but they moved me to a better room, so I'm not going to complain. There's also a dinner service, but I've not tried it. Location is great if you're a walker. I took the train to Ashurst New Forest and walked here through the forest.
