After having had four books published by The Book Guild, I'm hoping to go through the experience a fifth time! Maybe a sixth, if they'll have me. The caring, constructive and cooperative Book Guild team do their utmost to guide their authors through the complex step-by-step process of turning our manuscripts into the handsome volumes we imagined, but maybe didn't believe we could ever achieve. Thank you, Book Guild

After self-publishing 3 novels, I decided to take the plunge with The Book Guild as an alternative to traditional publishing that would allow me to reach a wider audience. I have not been disappointed. A professional, knowledgeable team have guided and helped me at every stage, and continue to do so. After publishing one book with them - 'The Barra Boy', I have submitted my next one, and am hopeful of a similar positive experience. The best investment in my writing journey that I have made.

I am an experienced TV writer who decided ‘at a certain age’ that I wanted to write novels. I looked around for a company for whom quality is paramount and discovered the Book Guild, who do ‘partnership publishing’. I couldn’t have been more pleased by their courtesy, efficiently and service. Their design and marketing services are superb. We’re onto my ninth book now and I appreciate and respect them more than ever. I can thoroughly recommend them.

I've had a very exciting and rewarding publishing journey with The Book Guild. Everyone has been so efficient, helpful and knowledgeable. Having an experienced publisher to produce my manuscript into a finished book and market it around the world has meant I can focus on my writing and that means the world to me. I'm so grateful they took on my book, No Place to Hide, and I hope I will be able to publish the rest of the books in the series with them. A great publisher!

The Book Guild have asked me if I would provide a review of my experiences with them. I can say, it's a pleasure to do so. My book would probably never have seen the light of day, were it not for their help. The marketing, design, and editing teams were top notch. The proofreading/editing was not major, but the manuscript still had to go to and fro a few times to iron some small details. They were totally patient. Philippa, in marketing, put my book forward for a prize, and it was nominated in the shortlist for RAC Motoring Book of the Year in 2019. I would, frankly, never have thought of doing this, so, as you might imagine, I was fairly over the moon with the experience. I would highly recommend a partnership deal with The Book Guild, should your book be suitable. I found them to be very friendly and totally professional. I am very grateful for their help and 100% satisfied.

I think the moral and ethical credibility of this company should be seriously called into question after publishing Storm in a Teacup by Emma David. This book exploits peoples pain, and as someone who has been written about I WILL NOT BE SILENCED ABOUT IT. This company already removed my first review but I will continue to post this review until it remains. By the authors own admission in the introduction she clearly shows that she is conscious of the damage she may do to the people whose stories she tells writing, “and those who would not wish to have their stories published” (her introduction). Surely as a publisher they should consider their moral and ethical responsibility to the people written about. Exposed in such a traumatic way with only their names changed. This book tells vulnerable people’s stories in a reckless and dangerous way for monetary gain which is disgusting! A former mental health worker commented that “as someone who has had experience of the kind of establishment this book is about, I am truly appalled that the author has been allowed to publish confidential, intimate details of deep trauma about others and with no equivalent disclosure of her own. The book exploits the experience of others, violating their subjective right to their own stories, and thereby does untold damage to them and to future inpatients who will not feel they can trust in the safe refuge being offered to them.“ In therapy there’s an absolute expectation of privacy and confidentiality, not only that but patients in this establishment verbally agree to the confidentiality of everything they see and hear. Yet this publisher and author have freely divulge the most intensely private and horrific experiences of people’s lives. How are people supposed feel safe in these types of environments to speak and to heal if this is what could happen!? Can you imagine what it’s like to have put all this behind you only to discover this book and all that horror to be resurrected? In response to your reply. Your ignorance is astonishing. This is not a question of damaging my reputation, it’s a question of why my story, my life could be written about without my permission while only changing my name. Things that happened when I was a child, horrific things. How is that not stepping over the ‘moral mark’? Of course the issues are important, of course they shouldn’t be swept under the rug. But why didn’t the author just make up the things that happen to us? Why does raising the issues have to come at the cost of exposing us in such an unbearable way? And to be clear, I don’t lack courage. I just think I’ve already been exposed enough thanks to what you published.

I tried so hard to get my thriller series off the ground for a long time. The Book Guild published my first book 'Poetic Justice: The Dawning' last year and now the second one, namely, 'Poetic Justice: Oxford' last month. Without them I would still be going round in ever decreasing circles. They are professional but with a human touch. The quality of the books and marketing materials are first class. I am so grateful to them for wanting to bring my book to market and that I signed a publishing contract with them because they are committed and have helped me, every step of the way. I would urge all those frustrated authors to submit.
