My mum has been living at Meadowbeck Care Home for nearly 2 years having moved there during COVID straight from hospital. We were not able to view the home beforehand and it was a considerable time before we were able to go in. We saw mum in their 'pod' and she was enjoying her stay and felt well looked after. Prior to going into care mum was quite isolated and really didn't want to socialise. Since going to Meadowbeck, Tina the activities co-ordinator has worked hard to include to my mum and all residents to join in activities. My mum has completely turned around and loves all of the activities and enjoys the company. There is an excellent daily activity programme which has something for everyone. For most of time at Meadowbeck mum was on Memory Lane. She found the unit "alright" and really liked some of the care staff, however throughout this time she constantly said that the other residents walking into her room upset her and she found this distressing. Over the summer I became concerned that Memory Lane seemed to have any clear consistent leadership and things were getting missed and communication was extremely poor. I spoke at length with the Manager and Deputy regarding my concerns along with, how and when I thought this happened and what I thought could improve things. I have to say that both the manager and deputy responded positively and quickly to my concerns. Spoke to the staff and I saw a considerable change fairly quickly. As a result a new unit manager was appointed, which I think will help significantly. My mum loved the staff on the unit and felt that that they were friendly, caring and had a great sense of humour. In October I met with the manager again for her to feedback to me on some issues. She said that my mum had recently completed a questionnaire about her care etc. She had raised again that she did not like other residents wandering into her room and this distressed her. As a result of this I was asked my thoughts on mum moving to another unit within the home that was quieter and where residents did not wander into rooms. I spoke to my mum who viewed the room and made the decision to move. This was arranged for the same day. It has to be said, it is the best thing that could have been offered. Although she misses the staff on Memory Lane, mum constantly says that she loves her new room, staff and residents and feels it is the best decision she has made. She continues to be involved with all of the activities, but feels significantly more relaxed and has told me that she is "loving life" following the move. My only disappointment is that this room move, could have been offered quite some time earlier. I would certainly recommend Meadowbeck care home and have in fact done so to three friends for their relatives.

My mum has been a resident for over 3 years and the staff have been so caring and compassionate. Sadly Mum is too poorly to join the many activities organised but they still try to engage her as much as possible. The staff have become like family to me and I so appreciate the support they give me through what has been some incredibly tough times, such lovely lovely people.

Cannot praise this care home and the people who work in it enough for caring for our family member. Much of this hard work goes on in the background so every opportunity must be given to thank the tremendous work they put in for caring for all the residents. I can recommend this care as a safe comfortable caring home for your loved ones.

How can barchester care get a member of staff dismissed from work when this person was only doing there job properly even better the staff that got this person dismissed don't even work with this person the staff that got this person dismissed works different shifts to them that gave false statements it amuses me I would have thought the head people there would have had more decency and listen to there carers and not take statements from staff that don't work with you would it not have been better to take statements from staff that work with you and not brush it under the carpet as they say I would not even give this any stars at all
