Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this clinic for private treatment. We’ve taken several weeks to let the dust settle and have returned to this review 3 years later - we've had time to think about our treatment through before writing. Whilst it may be a good option for NHS patients - when you are spending 6000gbp, there are certain minimal services that you would expect that they just cannot offer. We hope this helps anyone out there looking at options in this area. There is so much more to say - but google review has character limits. 1/ There is no out of hours line, even if they state that. 2/ the daytime number at the clinic never gets picked up - you are put through to an answer message and a nurse will call you back - sometimes hours later, sometimes the next day, once they forgot. 3/ the schedule of your treatment is according to that of the consultants - they are NOT full time at the clinic. This just doesn’t sit right for a number of reasons – for example, our embryo scientist said that we should get our embryo back in for implantation asap, on leaving the room (and checking the consultants schedule?) that was delayed by 48 hours. We found out later he was away from the clinic during that period. 4/ There is no follow up appointment after treatment - we were told to get in touch only if pregnant. 5/ Communication between the consultant and the GP was minimal to the point of treatment detriment - we've since understood that there are many things that the GP can check to ensure your body is ready for the treatment and to carry to term. 6/ No suggested physical prep at all – foods, supplements – aside from cut back on caffeine and alcohol. Whilst the effect of diet and exercise may be rated by the consultant as ‘not important’ – if anything, psychologically it is definitely important. We've also since understood that it can affect egg quality. 7/ No holistic treatment recommendations – uterine bacterial infections for example, thyroid and prolactin levels just before treatment – the consultants don’t believe these are necessary, just minimal research reveals that to carry to term many of the tests are indicators. 8/ No advice on supporting treatment - acupuncture for example. 9/ We were waiting for months for our test results – at the mercy of the NHS timing – only to be told they have been misplaced when it finally came to our first appointment with the consultant. We were then told we had to go private. We wasted so much time (almost a year) – for the sake of 100gbp to pay for these tests privately. 10/ We paid for way more medication that we needed. Again, another one-size-fits all approach that was really frustrating. If you are over 37 (cut off age for IVF Shrop) and forced to pay for private - you want to give the cycle every possible chance. This means that your GP is as collaborative in the process as the fertility consultant. It means that you want to feel fully prepared, involved in the protocol. We blindly trusted the consultant and nurses - who were very nice, but just not clear enough. We weren't talked through protocol options and explained why the consultant was taking the route he was, what to expect from the drugs and side effects etc. When paying, it also means that you should be able to move faster and have tailored treatment. I am all for supporting the NHS and it’s partly the reason we continued our treatment with the same clinic – we also believed the treatment would be cost effective/budget conscious, but not at all. The team are stretched and it’s not fair that they offer private treatment if they are unable to provide the service you should expect when paying these rates. I wouldn’t recommend them for private treatment and believe that there is a lot of work to be done before private fertility should be offered by the clinic.

I have nothing but praise for this friendly and professional department. I'm not going to refer to success rates, or my own, because you can check these stats on the HFEA website. My experience of the clinic is as an NHS patient, but I also have previous experience of being a private patient at another clinic for comparison. The department have been excellent at keeping us informed at all stages of IVF treatment, and are incredibly knowledgeable. I would say there was a good amount of continuity in who we saw/spoke with (if that is important to you) and especially in the run up, and including treatment, but for us, more important than that was that every single person who has been part of our treatment has been kind, friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Centre and intend to return in the future as a private patient. My experience here far exceeds my previous experience at a private clinic (Manchester), where we paid thousands of pounds for an inferior service, and where advice given was in their interests of keeping us as paid clients rather than giving us the best guidance for our circumstances.

I don't know how you can give the caring, supportive and professional staff anything but 5 stars to be honest. We even commented during our embryo transfer that the whole process must be everyday for them so not special and all the staff agreed that every single time, making a life is exciting and special and I believe them. They were all beaming with smiles and the sonographer held my hand in support with the warmth my mum would. I could feel the love in the room. Thanks Ladies xxx

Over the moon. We had our fertility treatment on the NHS. Our first cycle didn't work but our frozen transfer did and we now have a beautiful daughter. The consultants, nursing staff and scientists were professional and personable giving us confidence in the service. I can see from the other reviews that some people may feel that there isn't as much communication as expected but the bottom line is it worked for us and we will be going back as private patients to transfer our remaining embryo's when the time is right.

Very poor communication and record keeping at this clinic which in turn meant that important information is neither shared with the clinical team or with the patient. We were private patients and we would not recommend this clinic. I actually think the other below par review is very accurate to our experience. Please do your homework before considering using this fertility treatment centre. We did write to the clinic and they have advised us that they have since firmed up their processes.
