I think that the Baltic is a terrific exhibition space with incredible potential. Unfortunately, far too many of the exhibitions I have seen at this centre for contemporary art have been, to say it politely, underwhelming. I'm pleased that the many previous curatorial disappointments (the norm rather than the exception) did not put me off. The Chris Killip retrospective, which continues until 3 September 2023, is very good indeed. Here's to a new dawn and tremendous black and white photography.

Quite disappointing as there are only two halls showing art. The staff were polite and helpful. I will point out that the bus only lane signage is quite poor. There is no signage when leaving the Baltic car park, not to turn right. Turning right will lead you on the bus only route. Difficult to turn round as the road is narrow with bollards.
