Avoid! Don’t even call them! Called just after midnight Thursday 11-May-22. I was discouraged to bring my dog in. I was told that Gateshead would be closer for me. The operator then gave me a hard time for not vaccinating my dog within 18-months. The person on the phone was the most unprofessional, rough/aggressive person I’d ever encountered in such a setting. Why she assumed I could not afford the out of hours fee; I still do not know. I ignored the advice I received over the phone here and drove my dog to Gateshead; who said I should have come sooner as my dog was critically ill. I spent £££££ at the vets in Gateshead but it was money we’ll spent and they were very professional.

What kind and caring staff work here. I couldn’t fault the service we were given. They were fully booked but after explaining my situation over the phone, they squeezed me in. When I arrived, the staff that I came into contact with were caring and lovely to us and they made the whole ordeal of putting my hamster to sleep, as nice as it could be. They took time to chat with us and didn’t rush the process which was really appreciated. I couldn't recommend them enough. Thank you so much.

Twice recently we have had to take our chihuahua Walter to Ayres. Both times the different vets were excellent with him. Reception staff always friendly. Would go nowhere else with our pet.

Our experience here was appalling. This practice have no empathy and immediately threatened a charity with debt collectors, for merely asking if they would consider a charity rate.

Leaving a one star review as they told a cat rescue to put a stray boy cat back on the streets (unfixed). it had taken a very hard and stressful 8 months to trap him, as he is very trap wise. Really? So you are telling folks to put a cat back into a situation where he won’t be having food and water on demand, wont be getting any vet care for any injuries or illnesses sustained, whilst on the streets and the weather is starting to get VERY cold on a night time? If I phone the rspca and say I know of a cat that is not being given food or water on a regular basis, is denied access to medical care for any illnesses or injuries that may occur and is not allowed to come into the house to get warmth, they would investigate. Why are you giving this advice out, AYERS VETS, NORTH SHIELDS NE28 Tyne and Wear.? For the sake of 2 or 3 days you are willing to put a cat into a situation that could kill him? Back on the streets. VERY trap wise. Could have illnesses or get injuries which turn nasty (infections and abcesses from fights, leading to sepsis and death) and won’t be able to be trapped, as he is so trap wise it took 8 MONTHS to trap him. Shame on you, Ayers Vets. SHAME ON YOU.

Not entirely sure of the vet's name - may have been Jane - but possibly the most humane vet I've ever spoken with in all the years I've loved and lost my animal cherubs. My Miss Tammy is currently at Ayres (hoping to bring her home tomorrow) and the phone chat with the vet tonight was so comforting! Honest, soft, funny and just HUMAN! Thank you from my family! The Tamster needs to come home, so please don't put a hoover on between now and then! ❤️🐈🐱😘

Just want to say thank you to Jackie that dealt with Oreo’s sudden passing. She was super patient with us, ran through questions and stayed on the line for about 30 mins even though signal was cutting off every minute. This was during out of hours - we had tried different vets and have never been here before this occasion. Oreo’s ashes were collected today.
