GPs and nurses are very helpful, but good luck ever getting the chance to see one. It’s easier to live with whatever ailment you have, and hope that it cures itself, as that will still be faster than waiting for an appointment. How can you justify being number one in the call queue for 30 minutes? I have tried booking annual tests that my nurse says I require, and reception made it as difficult as they could for me, until I have up. You will always have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes before you eventually get to speak to someone.

I've lived in Rayleigh for 45 years, and all I can say is this surgery is the worst it's ever been. Today's example of exceptional service is..... They've lost all record of my 9 year old son's prescription for his Asthma pump which he's been getting from this surgery almost all his life! All record of it has disappeared into thin air, and as a result he can not get the pump he desperately needs. The best the receptionist can offer (aside from acting like it's our mistake, with no sign of an apology whatsoever) is he needs to see a doctor. Ok, when's the next appointment? that would be in one week. Great, thanks for the help! Only alternative is to queue up at 8am tomorrow to get an appointment for some time later in the day, where we go back so they can sort out 'their' mistake. This surgery is a disgrace. Surely she could have passed this to a doctor and they could have rectified the issue and called us instead. Something tells me the receptionist is not going to win any customer services awards this year!!! Update 16/01/21 Despite the frustrations with this surgery previously, I have to say the treatment I received from Dr C Lewis recently was outstanding. Fortunate to get an opppointment via System Online, I saw him the next day and he diagnosed a serious problem instantly, and referred me to Southend Hospital where the treatment was second to none. If he hadn't have acted so quickly things may have been very different. I've up'd my rating to 3 to give a balanced view of both experiences. Certainly one extreme to the other. A personal thanks to Dr Lewis who is kind, professional, very experienced, and for sure the superstar of the surgery.

I just wanted to say a massive “”thank you” for the care my mum has received recently and always from this surgery. Yvonne, on reception, has been so kind and caring. Steve the physio helped mum with the pain in her leg, Dr Saville, Dr O’Keefe and Dr Whitear have been so kind and so thorough dealing with mum’s chest infection. She could not have been cared for any better. Thank you all so much.

This place is run by a bunch of clowns. The level of illogical practices that they have in place just wastes time, money, and resources. Literally your only options for getting and appointment are to get try “fastest finger first” at 7:59am on just try to get in the queue to speak to someone. Most of the time it says the queue is full and you get hung up on. So then they say to call after 10am. So three times throughout the day I call, and 8-10 people in the queue. At 4:30pm it took over one hour to speak to a receptionist to tell me that they have no appointments, try again at 8am. Round and round in their vicious little circle. If the apple was for me, fine, I’ll deal with it. When it’s for a 17 week old baby who cannot sleep because of constant pain, scratching, and not gaining weight, no one has the common sense to just find 15 mins the following day for him to be seen. Honestly the level of care in this country is shambolic. The thing is, they all blame under-staffing, and under-funding, but quite clearly the biggest issue is that these practices are being run by truly idiotic people who have no idea how they can save time and streamline whilst providing a better service. It just requires more competent management and better processes in place to stop the insane amount of wasted time. It needs people who have empathy and a better way of thinking to get things done. As I mentioned, for the majority, it’s just what we have to deal with; but when it’s regarding babies, or elderly, there needs to be far more compassion and a willingness to do things differently. I guess they are proud of their 2* rating. I’ve held off writing reviews in the past as I know the level of pressure they face, but it it’s just downright incompetence that leads to the problems they have, then there is nowhere to hide

Appointment system is terrible. If you're lucky enough to get in telephone queue (as often it won't let you due to high volume of calls) you hold for ages and then get cut off. If you do get through, all appointments are gone for the day. If you try and book online, all appointments gone within minutes of going live. I've tried for over an hour and a half on phone today to get nurse appointment (which you can't book online) and given up!

Impossible to get a GP appointment for my Partner. Called 14 times, on hold for 22 mins, to be told "no appointments today". Surely the phone message needs to be changed when all appointments have gone. My partner had a physio appointment here, at the start of December, sat and waited for an hour and the Physio didn't bother to turn-up. Receptionist was not aware the physio was not coming in! My partner was simply told, "come back at lunch for an appointment" what is the point of booking in advance, when you cannot even fulfil that!! Terrible service.
