After having attended a session many months ago, I am writing a review of my experience with the "Audition Doctor". When I decided to book a session with her, I made sure to do my research. I noticed a couple rather negative and off-putting reviews on here, but I didn't think too much of them as they seemed to be outweighed by the positive reviews. However, every negative review is valid nevertheless, and I learnt, unfortunately, the hard way. Having attended many acting classes and workshops, and having met various individuals at various stages in their acting careers, I know what to look for in a "good" workshop/class - productivity, professionalism, and most importantly, positivity. This session, lacked all. At a hefty £80, one would think that this would mean top of the range coaching. I made sure to be concise with what I was there for, to make sure that I would get as much out of this session as possible before moving forward with future sessions. As a curious and knowledge-seeking individual, I look for new experiences, so luckily enough I have been able to learn something from this experience, which is to always stay strong and driven. But at the time, this experience was utterly belittling - being told I should just "get in!!" to drama school (this is in quotations for a reason), to being told that I should forget acting altogether, despite not even performing or working on the monologue I brought, among many, many other things, showed me the lack of professionalism. It saddened me that this is what came from the experience, as I was truly hoping to learn something good and meet someone who could be a true mentor figure. You are going to meet people who simply do not like you, understand you, and who will knock you and your confidence down completely, and sadly this person was one of those people to me. Since then, I have met some truly amazing people in the industry which I am grateful for, but I knew that at some point I would have to share some of my experience on here, rather than hold back and keep this rather horrible experience to myself.

I’m currently auditioning for drama schools. I came to Tilly late on in the process and was initially very naive in my approach to audition preparation. In a very short space of time, the work Tilly has done with me has helped me to identify and overcome my weaknesses, and begin to work to my strengths. She has worked with me to break down my monologues and study them in great detail, enabling me to give a much stronger performance. She has also talked me through the audition process, giving me valuable tips and advice as well as useful acting techniques, which I feel has helped me improve greatly. I really enjoy my sessions with Tilly and would highly recommend her to anyone!! One thing I value most is Tilly’s honesty; she doesn’t just say something’s good if it’s not, but her criticism is always constructive and backed up by direction on how I can improve - Everything she says really makes sense. I just only wish I had found her at the beginning of my drama school audition process!!

Tilly has completely turned around the way I perform and how I think about performance, and I am absolutely a different actor now than when I started with her only a few months ago. She has given me new confidence and new honesty in my work that always felt out of reach. On top of that, her constant reassurance and support has been invaluable during the very challenging drama school audition process. She is not only an incredible teacher, but a friend and confidant who always fights your corner. I am so lucky to have found her and truly so grateful for what she has done for me.

I was surprised to read the last two reviews on here for Tilly and Audition Doctor when I came on this morning to post this review. Once again Tilly has been really helpful with one of my clients, who has been finding the endless round of self tapes rather demoralising given that we so rarely get any feedback on them. Yesterday my client was offered one of the jobs she has taped twice for, having gone to Tilly for help with the second one. I know that Tilly managed to encourage and give her the confidence and belief that she could to it this time, and as my client said, Tilly is just brilliant. Which says it all really! I've been sending clients to Tilly since she started Audition Doctor and have never had anything but great feedback.

Definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had. Tilly is so passionate and thorough with her work. She creates a safe space for you to share your work and does you the up most respect by not blowing any smoke. I feel safe in Tilly’s sessions and don’t feel judged. She pushes you to strive for your best and won’t settle for anything less. She is supportive and I feel like we are on the same team aiming for the same goal. I also have felt able to share my personal struggles with her and she has been incredibly kind and accommodating to them and she has also helped me use them in a positive way to fuel my work. Would definitely recommend Tilly to anyone determined to drastically improve their work.

Extremely toxic person in my opinion. She spent 45 minutes of our first (and last) hour-long session talking about how difficult this industry is and that it's better to give up. When she finally agreed to listen to the monologue she asked me to prepare she seemed bored and detached, even checked her phone when I was reading. The last 10 minutes of our session she spent criticizing everything about it; the choice of the monologue, the writing, my acting... Not a single word of advice on how to improve it, though. I left feeling cheated out of my time and money.

Quite possibly the worst 'tutor' for anything I have ever had. Tilly thinks shouting, screaming and not letting the student speak to express their ideas is constructive. How strange. A teacher's job is to instruct, teach and give tips and advice. Tilly just hisses at you, constantly interrupting, making you feel small and anxious coming away from the lesson without having learned anything. Avoid.
