We had all of our windows replaced together with a composite front door with matching composite side panels. This company were very friendly, courteous and professional to deal with. They are also competitively priced. Good communication from the office and the fitters that came were a pleasure to have in and around the house. They were cheerful chaps, put down plastic sheeting on carpets and wore shoe covers inside the house. They left no mess or dust. I would thoroughly recommend this company for windows or composite doors.

We've had Astral Windows replace all of our windows, front porch and door in various stages as we've been renovating our house over the last couple of years. I am so happy with their service, starting with giving me enough information about the different types of windows, glazing levels, etc. to measure and fit. Never felt pushed and they had enough patience to answer all my questions. I was very insistent due to the investment I wanted tripe glazing, and we ended up going to a new double glazing they stock which has the same L value. Less expensive but same performance on insulating. My builder recommended going with them and I am very pleased.

Unfortunately my experience with Astral has not been a good one. Within the last 18 months I bought a door and got my windows replaced. Within a year one of my windows broke. I opened it in the morning, and a few hours later, when I went to close it one of the hinges completely buckled and it was left hanging on by the other hinge. I called up to get it fixed, and quite quickly an engineer from Astral came out and replaced the hinge. Only they replaced it with a different hinge so the window opens out wonky. However, at least it closed. . I also bought a new front door, and within 12 months, it had dropped as it had not been installed properly. This made it hard to open and close. Again, an engineer from Astral came out and fixed it. . A few months later (this past December) it broke as one of the locking mechanisms came loose inside the door after I had locked it before going to work A screw hadn't been tightened properly and so was locked outside my house in the cold for a couple of hours. This was after office hours so I couldn't call Astral to fix it and had to get an emergency locksmith out. That cost me £150. . When I got through to Astral the following day, they were of the opinion that they wouldn't pay for the locksmith as they would have come out to look at it for free if they were open. What was I supposed to do? Sleep in my car til the morning? . Additionally the man I spoke to said he would find out if he could send an engineer to look at the door later that week and that he would call me back later that day to confirm a time. I didn't hear back from him and the next day, whilst at work, an engineer turned up at my house. Obviously I wasn't in so they left a "we tried to contact you card". . We spoke to Astral again a few days later and they said that the lady that normally deals with these enquries was away for a bit and that they would contact us when she returned. It has been many weeks now and they haven't called back. . This has been one hugely disappointing experience and very costly too. I saved up thousands of pounds for two products that both went faulty in a year. I then had to pay more money to be able to enter my own home as a result and Astral basically said that's not their problem. . The products, when working, are nice. And the installers were polite, tidy and professional so this is why I didn't give 1 star. . If anyone asked me if I would recommend Astral for their products, I'd have to say no. . And I'm still waiting for my door to be fixed. They were happy to take the thousands of pounds I saved up for their products but don't seem to be too bothered to right this wrong. I think it's really poor and unacceptable. . Louis/Casey
