If I could leave zero stars I would. Literally the worst experience I’ve ever had in a supermarket; I’ve never been spoken to by anyone with a managerial role like I was by G***** today. I was wanting to buy 3 packets of paracetamol from the pharmacy, as any regular paracetamol users know, a pharmacist can sell 3 packets at their discretion if they feel there’s a genuine need. I was told this wasn’t possible but when the sales assistant went to ask the pharmacist he came back and told me I was only allowed to buy 1 packet, not the 2 I was initially told I could buy. When I asked why I was told this was company policy. Knowing this to be untrue (having bought two boxes from the Asda Bury St Edmunds pharmacy last month) I asked to see it, they couldn’t find it (unsurprisingly) so instead said it was store policy and said I could speak to the manager. I said yes and he was called. G***** charged over and didn’t bother with any of the basic pleasantries one would expect from a manager. I explained the situation, he interrupted and said he didn’t care, I showed him a newspaper article with a quote from asda HQ explaining paracetamol sales and again he didn’t care and told me it was illegal to sell more than one pack. He said anyone who sells me more than one pack is breaking the law. I said to him that it wasn’t and I regularly buy 3 packets from tescos and he asked me why I didn’t go there to shop then. He said I could have one packet or none and mentioned me leaving the store. He made other comments in our brief exchange before he walked off, I told him he was very aggressive and he responded by telling me I was, which I defineitly wasn’t! This entire incident happened under the cctv camera, which I think G***** realised as he made a B line for the security desk which just so happens to be next to the entrance / exit so I wasn’t far behind him. I stopped to ask the security guard if the pharmacy was covered by cctv, he said yes but he told me that only G***** as the manager could view it and I would have to speak to head office. I asked him to make sure the footage didn’t go missing! This displeased G***** and he told me to leave the store. Obviously I was straight on the phone to head office and they seemed genuinely apologetic for G***** being their employee, but I’ve yet to hear anything more from them. I’m not the biggest Asda shopper in general, but given todays encounter I doubt I’ll ever be one again! You need to educate your staff about what’s illegal and what’s not - your pharmacist didn’t even feel comfortable to stand his ground, probably for fear of facing G*****’s wrath. I would avoid this store - if this is how the manager behaves it’s no wonder there’s so many low star reviews! Edit: As per Tasha’s request I have removed the managers name. I have already called and logged the incident, it happed at approximately 13:10 on June 14th. I spoke to someone on the telephone at 13:34. I don’t believe this is a pharmacy issue as it was the manager of the store who had given the pharmacy these rules as he’s clearly not familiar with the MHRA guidelines from 2012 and it was the manager of the store that spoke to me in such an aggressive and inappropriate way.

Staff are way too rude. Specially the tills supervisor Thamilee, she has no respect for customers and their time. I request some action to be taken against her.

It would be a great superstore if they used their potential properly. Great location, big sized store, large selection of any goods. Scan&Go, which could save you time, is never available due to lack of interest of staff to bring the handles back to charge. Instead of that you have to be in long queues waiting for self check out, because out of 15 cashiers only 2 are open. 9 out of 10 shopping S&G handles are not available.
