I have worked with GAWF for many years and can only applaud the amazing work they do for the animals in Greece.

For a small charity, GAWF has worked for decades in Greece, and does a lot! From seeking to change attitudes towards animals through practical education programmes in primary schools, to supporting local welfare groups and providing expert veterinary teams to help sterilise stray cats and dogs. They also look after working donkeys and mules in tourist locations, such as Santorini, Hydra or Rhodes, as well as many equine shelters and sanctuaries by sending their Equine Care Team out on annual visits. Please support!

I have not visited, but to the best of my knowledge there is a dedicated London based group who visit Santorini and other places with hands on the ground helping injured, exploited, sick, wounded donkeys and other animals. Stray dogs and cats are cruelly poisoned by means of control, and GAWF try to neuter where possible. For some reason Greeks appear to be as cruel as Middle Eastern countries regarding animal welfare - or lack of it.

Very inefficiently run. Made a couple of donations but appears those donations were rather used for paying internal staff. Followed them on social media for a while and they often show others people’s successes but often forget to credit them.

(Translated by Google) thanks to them and to all the people who devote themselves to making the lives of animals worthy and bearable, mentalities here are gradually changing. in this country, the cradle of philosophy, we have to believe that the modern Greeks will one day be like their wise Plutarch.
