Andrew has been teaching me for several years. He has elevated my playing, expanded my musical understanding and mentored me in my own musical career journey. His manner is relaxed, encouraging and non-judgemental. I feel very lucky to have Andrew as my tutor and mentor.

A couple of years ago I decided to return to piano lessons after a gap of many years. I had three reasons for doing so. I wanted to get back to something approaching my skills when I took grade 8 at school, I'd also started to play piano for an Alzheimer’s Society "Singing For The Brain" group (a voluntary role) and wanted to do as good a job as possible and I wanted to have a wider range of music available to me to play. I chose Keyquest because of a recommendation from a music teacher who ran my local music store. I'm happy to report that it has been a very good experience and something I'm really glad I decided to do. Since I’m not studying for any exams right now, (although I may look at a performance diploma in a few years time), I have free range to choose the music I want to work on. To date we have covered works by Mozart, Debussy, Chopin, Bach, Gershwin, Schumann and others as well as some personal favourites including Jóhann Jóhannsson, Benny Andersson and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Nothing, it seems, is considered out of range. I feel that I have learnt such a lot since recommencing lessons, In particular I like that Andrew will pick up on small details and won’t allow me to get away with a mediocre performance, but does this in an encouraging (and frequently humourous) way. I can definitely feel that I am making progress and my lessons are always enjoyable, often punctuated with some interesting musical discussions. A lot of music that I would have once considered out of my reach is at least approachable now and Andrew is very good at suggesting techniques to cope with more difficult passages and has good ideas about interpretation of music from different eras. I also enjoy performing in the two concerts each year that Andrew organises for his students. This has given me added confidence for the voluntary work I do and for playing for friends and family. I would recommend Keyquest to anyone who wants to take a serious approach to their playing and is willing to put in the effort. Good results will surely follow.

Andrew has been teaching me piano for over a year. He is a really collaborative teacher and clearly one of the best as he teaches other piano teachers too. He is extremely patient, very easy going, and knowledgeable about all manner of musical things! Andrew also teaches my daughter and she thinks he is brilliant as well.

I have had lessons with Andrew for just over a year now. His holistic approach to piano tuition is inspirational and supportive. We are working towards an ARSM diploma, he has particularly helped me to slow and settle down into pieces rather than charging in full steam ahead glossing over the details in a panicked fashion. Highly recommended!
