A brilliant wood carving course for beginners, leading to taking up this as a potential hobby. I liked the pace. The tutor worked very well with us without seeming to intrude.

I was given a stone carving course for 2 days, at Chillington hall and thoroughly enjoyed it. The group's were small, Miranda and Geriant were very helpful and attentive. All in all was really well run. Stone carving physical but satisfying, I'd recommend gloves and an apron as a lot of sanding towards the end of finishing your piece! satisfying

I had the pleasure of participating in the 2 days woodcarving course. Quality tools and wood supplied. Geraint is a really good teacher and so encouraging and motivational. Most of us left feeling ready to buy the tools and take the craft up! I will be returning.

My Mum and I had a fantastic time on the sculpting course with Miranda. I’m not very artistic, but was massively impressed with what I managed to achieve! Miranda was great at guiding you through and explaining how to make and interpret the shapes. The only reason it’s not a 5 star rating is the fact the venue was absolutely freezing! And that I felt a bit rushed at the end and didn’t get the time to do the finishing touches to the sculpture as I wanted to (this may have been linked to being so cold and having to take more breaks to warm up and also moving slower as my hands and fingers were stiff). Thanks for a great day and for enabling me to get in touch with what I thought was my non existent artistic side!

Yesterday myself and my niece went to the Amerton Art Studio to do a day course in life drawing. We were both a little apprehensive as I hadn’t been to a life drawing class since I was 16 and my niece only draws/paints animals! We walked in to a very warm welcome from Miranda the model and all the other students. We started with lots of drawing exercises then different quick poses from the model to help us with movement etc. Then onto longer poses but making sure we had the proportions right before shading etc. We both had a fantastic day and learnt so much from Miranda who is an amazing teacher. I can’t recommend the class enough and look forward to maybe trying her sculpture course as well!

As I am an absolute beginner when it comes to life drawing I attended the workshop on offer at Amerton Arts Studio which was led by Miranda. After a very nervy start I felt that with Miranda's excellent tuition I grew in confidence and by the end of the day was extremely pleased with my final piece of work. Starting with the basic directional strokes, looking closely at angles, to proportion and the use of negative space, it all built up to achieving a reasonable illustration. It was very challenging but totally rewarding. I would certainly recommend this workshop to anyone who feels the need to extend their artistic ability. Thank you Miranda.

I have been stone carving with Miranda for three years and with her excellent tuition I have produced some good pieces. She provides the stone and tools and guides you from simple exercises to some quite complex work. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The courses run by Miranda at Amerton Art Studios are second to none. Miranda is very skilled and is able to bring out the best in all her students. I attend both Tuesdays, for life drawing/life clay sculpture and Thursdays for stone carving. I can thoroughly recommend the courses she runs and no matter what skill level you begin with, under her guidance it wont be long before you are producing work to be proud of.
