This recruitment agency responded to one of our job advertisements on Indeed in July 2021. The agency sent us an unsolicited email advising they had a candidate who was “highly skilled” in the industry. Although we expressed interest initially in being open to discussing with the agency and the candidate their suitability for the role, the agency informed us that the candidate had another “job offer”; therefore, we advised the agency that we would pass on interviewing the candidate on that basis and did not engage with the candidate, the agency, or request the agency’s services. A few weeks later, the candidate contacted our company not through the agency, but personally, and expressed interest in the position, which was still advertised, and we assumed this was because their other “job offer” fell through. We interviewed the candidate and decided to offer them temporary work on a trial basis, with a probationary period of 3-months and 6-months, and they would only be employed as full-time established staff upon successful completion of both probationary periods. The candidate was highly inexperienced to the point they sadly didn’t reach their 3-months probationary period and was only with us for 8-weeks and 1 day before we had to let them go due to their unsuitability to our company and the industry in general. We then received an email in May 2023, 2-years later, from AlectoRecruitment who sent us an invoice demanding an obscene amount of £9,000.00 for services they are saying they provided. The agency done nothing but send us a CV and are expecting us to pay £9,000.00 – such a demand is despicable. For context, this is double plus what the candidate earned in their entire time on trial with us, which is a shameful demand, and is disgraceful practice for any organisation to engage in such a way. What we will not allow is a rogue recruitment agency to try and extort us by demanding money they are not due. The agency is desperate and are trying to establish a contractual agreement where there was none. We refused the agencies services and have proof of this in writing. We advise anyone reading this response to avoid them at all costs. We will also be leaving negative reviews of this agency on all available platforms.

I recently got made redundant and I put my CV up on CV Library to look for a new job. Alecto Recruitment were the first agency to contact me and they quickly arranged an interview for me with a local company who were looking for a maintenance engineer.
