While the location is great, the court itself left something to be desired. Although the court is situated between the scarborough cliffs, scarborough castle, and the north sea, it lacks some key features that make for a good basketball experience. Firstly, I was disappointed to find that the court had no backboards. This made it difficult to practice shots and drills, and made it challenging to gauge the accuracy of my shots. In addition, the rims were double and felt outdated, which made it harder to score. Secondly, the lack of backboards combined with metal rims means that the ball will bounce out of the court. It lands in the grassy area, but by playing right next to a cliff top it always fills me with fear. Furthermore, the lack of nets on the rims made it difficult to tell when a shot had successfully gone through the hoop. I found this frustrating as it detracted from the overall experience of playing basketball. Ther are no benches, shelter or shade to protect from the sun or rain. This made it uncomfortable to play for long periods of time, especially in harsher/english weather conditions. Additionally, the dips in some parts of the concrete floor collect rain and leave pools of water for multiple days. There are floodlights surrounding the court, but I have not seen them on in a year. Overall, while the location of the court is beautiful and fairly quiet, the lack of backboards, outdated rims, and uneven floor made it challenging to enjoy playing basketball on this court. I hope that the court can be updated with these features in the future, as it has great potential to be a fantastic location for basketball players.

No back boards and no lights on despite there being spot lights there.
