  There just isn't enough stars on here to rate Alan as a photographer and an individual. We first met Alan at a wedding fair where we were looking for a photographer for our wedding in Italy. We thought it would be very difficult to find somebody who would work with us as we are both anxious about having our photo taken and wanted to find somebody we could have a rapport with and would produce some very artistic photos of our day. We looked at various photographers and everyone seemed very similar and didn’t really stand out to us, until we met Alan! We looked at his portfolios of work and examples of wedding photography and was simply blown away by how different his work is and the quality of the albums he produces. Instantly we warmed to Alan and he made us feel like we had known him forever. We subsequently booked Alan and was impressed by the time he took to meet with us before the wedding to discuss exactly what we were looking for. Fast forward to our wedding, Alan and his wonderful assistant and wife Helen were fantastic on the day, most of the time they blended in with our guests and instantly made us and our guests feel comfortable and didn’t even realise he was taking lots of shots of us all. Alan spent so much time before the wedding exploring the venue and planning the right places, lighting, and ambience to capture what we wanted. 3 weeks later we met Alan to view our photos and I was so incredibly nervous about seeing photos of myself, within 30 seconds of seeing the first photo my anxiety and nerves were extinguished and I found myself crying tears of happiness at the truly amazing and stunning photos I have ever seen, they were so beautiful I forgot I was looking at myself and thought they were photos taken from a bridal magazine! I can not express enough how strongly I recommend Alan for any photography but if you dream of fairytale wedding pictures, Alan is a perfect choice.

  Alan was recommended to my husband and I by my brother. He had recently worked with Alan and visited his studio in Eridge. He was aware that we had been looking for the right photographer for some while. We found the process, one of the most difficult choices to make because for us, capturing the day was such an important element and naturally you want to make the right decision, so you can relax and enjoy your big day. We weren’t disappointed. I got in touch with Alan and he invited us to meet him at his studio, located in his garden. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcomed by him and his wife, offered drinks and made our way down the garden to his studio. It is a beautiful space, which displays his work and really gives you a good insight to what you can expect from him. Alan is approachable and extremely talented, having won many awards over the years for his work. We took the time to talk to him about what we had hoped for, he explained how he liked to work and showed us many examples of previous wedding photography he'd taken. All different locations and scenarios. Fortunately for us, we met Alan in the May and secured him as our photographer for August. We married at Wadhurst Castle and Alan hadn't shot a wedding there before, so he took the time to visit the venue beforehand and identify some key areas that would create some very special photography. Alan was very easy to liaise with throughout the whole process, arrived promptly on the day and is always well presented. We received many compliments about his professionalism and manor from our guests which was wonderful to hear. We wanted our photography to be relaxed and organic, neither of us like posing and having staged photos. We did however have some group shots taken, to tick this box and we are very pleased to have these. The castle itself and grounds provided Alan with many different backgrounds and we certainly made the most of the space. We were able to view our wedding photos at Alan's studio, roughly three weeks after the wedding, which was extremely exciting. He created an album example for us and played this to us as a slideshow, as we sat relaxing in his studio. The results were fantastic and we were so pleased. We decided to have an album made up, which is outstanding quality and will be treasured forever. We can highly recommend Alan and would like to thank him again for capturing our day so beautifully.   We are so glad we hired Alan as our wedding photographer. Neither of us are particularly comfortable having photos taken, so we were a little worried about this aspect of the wedding. However, when we first met Alan at his home studio, he put us at ease straight away. We had previously spoken to another photographer who had given us the impression it was more about how he wanted the photographs to look. This wasn't the case with Alan. He took the time to chat to us and get to know our personalities and what we wanted from him. We had a small, intimate wedding and wanted a more elegant style of photography. After speaking to Alan and seeing his portfolio, it was clear that photography is a passion and his style was exactly what we wanted. He creates photographs as though he has the intention that each one will be displayed like a piece of art. On the day, during the ceremony, Alan did a great job of discretely moving around the room to take some lovely photographs, from places I never noticed he managed to get to. When it came to the "posing shots", we're not naturals, but Alan was very good at getting us to relax and make it look more like he captured a moment than a staged shot. We loved the end result, and those who have seen the photographs have commented on how amazing they are. Thank you Alan.

  When it comes to wedding photography, there’s a whole lot of average out there and we quickly realised how it easy it could be to make the wrong choice. With Alan we very quickly realised that his work was head and shoulders above anything we’d seen before. We drooled over his portfolio and hoped that we’d get something even half as good as the other weddings! We weren’t disappointed at all – the shots we got back were insanely good!! Alan himself felt like we’d met up with an old friend, he has a great sense of humour and made us feel like we were stars! He exudes a rare passion for his work, getting excited about different photo opportunities and was always looking for spots of light and new moments! He directed our family and friends around perfectly, in fact lots of guest commented on not really noticing him at all and yet he managed to capture every single special moment! Everything was perfect, and after the wedding, the experience of viewing our photos for the first time, and collecting our wedding album felt as magical as the day.
