As a middle aged white male, who (frankly) looks a bit rough around the edges, I could have forgiven the ladies behind the counter for being a bit suspicious of why I was snooping around an African/Caribbean grocery store when I first went there. Instead, they couldn't be more helpful and even excited that someone outside of that community was cooking and enjoying that style of food. I go there fairly regularly now and enjoy chatting about new ingredients and dishes. What an absolute gem of a shop.
