He is personable, efficient, knowledgeable, trustworthy, has an excellent design aesthetic and is good at problem solving. His approach is non confrontational enabling him to strike up a good rapport with builders and subcontractors which, in turn, makes construction work reasonably stress free. He is my go to architect for my personal work and I would recommend him without hesitation.

Alex comes across as a nice guy. I decided to instruct his firm to do a 3M extension out the back of my townhouse. A fairly straight forward design (a box, with bifold doors). He came to site a few times, took measurements etc. Once the extension had been built, the £3,500 bifold doors arrived, and turned out to be too big for the opening. This was due to two mistakes: 1. The builders had built the opening one brick too low, however that could have been rectified (which they offered to do). 2. If the opening had been made taller, the doors still would have been 150mm too large. This was down to meassurements that Alex came to site and took at the start of the build, which turned out to be inaccurate. He based his drawings off this measurement. AJK refused to take any responsibility, even though i have email evidence of him providing the dimensions. Overall, the build took far longer than it should have because of this, and Alex made no attempt to try and right the mistake (or even come to an agreement). The mistake ended up costing me an entirely new set of doors. It is easy to be friendly and professional when things are going well. Once the mistake was made however, it became clear that AJK Architecture was unwilling to take resonsibility for their work, and the excuses kept coming. Mistakes in construction happen, however brushing your hands of it is not the way to go.
