We needed to organise care for my very elderly Mum and arranged this with Age Concern UK Medway. The staff were very helpful in general and the Day Care Centre in Strood has been marvellous. The staff are patient, understanding and clear and any problems or difficulties are addressed in an open manner. Very good indeed and highly recommended. Unfortunately we found the Home Care Service disappointing. The assigned carer was not clear about difficulties she encountered on the call and even after a seemingly constructive formal meeting between herself, her manager and us, she failed to change her attitude and behaviour. She suddenly told her manager that she was not returning to help my mother with no notice at all and no explanation to my mother, leaving a vulnerable person unclear about what had happened and with no care in the future. We found this disrespectful. Her manager was not very understanding of how unprofessional and irresponsble this was and seemed more concerned about her staff than my mother's welfare. We were really let down.
