Sent my belgian shepherd pup off for a 3 week residential stay with Martin the trainer as true to her breed she was a terrible landshark and was a nutcase in the house. She's come back almost a different dog had her back a few weeks now, my arms are bruise/bite mark free and she's learnt to be much calmer in the house. Her recall has improved loads and now she doesn't walk a billion miles per hour on lead

I have been following Adolescent Dogs for many years. In December I signed up for their Elf on the shelf online challenge. It was so much fun and a bonus that I won lots of goodies at the end of the challenge too. I then signed up to the Calm canine challenge in January which was beneficial to my dog. Now I’m hooked and have signed up to the academy and can’t wait for the Scent challenge in March. I’m a dog trainer myself and I still get so much out of Mike and Jenny’s training, i highly recommend adolescent dogs. I hope to do an in person workshop in the future too. Adolescent dogs have helped immensely with our pups training and we wouldn't be at the standard we are today without them. I can't reccomend these guys enough! 5 out of 5 in every aspect.

We are super happy with our choice to work with Adolescent Dogs. I shan’t lie, it was an impulse decision when I chanced upon it during that Christmas that got cancelled in 2020, but fate definitely dealt us a good hand and I have recommended them to friends and family. We signed up to their online academy during lockdown and when we were able to, met up with some 1:1 lessons with Mike. Our puppy was a 6 month old large, mixed breed overseas rescue and though we had done lots of research, our dog exhibited a lot of challenging behaviours, especially his reactivity to other dogs. Mike built rapport with us very quickly in our 1:1 session and provided reassurance and clear instructions for our next steps. We have continued with 1:1 sessions and Mike has accompanied us on a walk, helping us to manage Digby in real world scenarios. We have followed Jenny and Mike’s clear, video instructions on their online academy for trick training, loose lead walking, recall, reactivity, enrichment, boundary training, scentwork and more! Genuinely, there is so much on their online academy and they are always uploading new info! Jenny has always provided excellent advice on the VIP Facebook group when we’ve been stuck with something, such as our dog howling at foxes, being shocked by an electric fence or to provide feedback on our training videos. I have particularly enjoyed the monthly challenges, and the group is really supportive! We have also completed the Bronze, Silver and Gold scentwork classes with Adolescent Dogs. We were advised that they were suitable for our dog despite him being reactive and we can honestly say that they hugely helped his reactivity as well as our own confidence working with him around other dogs. Our dog can now be off lead, in the presence of other dogs and completely ignore them, when we started with adolescent dogs he would bark and lunge at dogs from over 50m away and would run over to them if given the opportunity- we owe this entirely to our training with Adolescent Dogs.

It's been a whole year since adolescent dogs had our dog for 4 weeks and I think in some respects it was helpful, but I'm not comfortable with the amount we spent and don't think it completely reflected in the output. We had our dog in residential training for reactivity to animals and bad prey drive, our trainer did teach us techniques to continue the training at home, and we have got to a place where we've gradually improved his behaviour through consistent training at home - albeit it's not completely fixed but through our persistence of the training we've put in through techniques taught by adolescent dogs and other online advice and guides, we're at a manageable place and can see him improving. However, part of me wishes we went through a different route and used the money we invested in the residential to have a weekly face to face session with a trainer locally to us to support. It would have been cheaper, better for us to integrate in our lives, and just as (or if not more) effective being in his normal environment. Our trainer, Bekki, was brilliant at keeping us updated, and very willing to meet up with us as much as we needed after the training finished to help with any queries and support ongoing. It's clear she cares a lot for the animals in her care. I did find Jenny (the owner) was rude when the payment didn't work due to an issue on the merchant side (Paypal issues), and was unwilling to speak to us on the phone to resolve it, and did threaten to cut our training short without speaking to us to explain the issues we were seeing, and pick it up with their Paypal business account. We had the money to go and were eager to pay, but the option provided to us didn't work and she got a bit nasty, and worried us a lot that we'd have to cancel the holiday we booked while he was in training. In the end, Mike (other owner) stepped in to call and assist us with looking at a way to avoid using Paypal, which was very simple and worked right away. He also admitted their business Paypal were at fault too rather than there being any issue with our account. Overall, it can feel like an easy option and like you have no other choice to go with a residential if you are having challenges with your young dog. However, I'd say it's more worth your money to hire a face to face positive trainer near where you live, to have regular sessions with you each week, and to put in the work with your dog yourself week in week out, rather than a very expensive residential training option which takes the dog in a strange environment.

Adolescent Dogs are THE BEST! Their online Academy is really engaging, interactive and responsive. It's given us loads of ideas for training our puppy, explains the theory in an accessible way, uses lots of dogs to illustrate what they are teaching. I'm not really into online courses - but the Adolescent Dogs Online Academy is FAB!

We've recently finished a 3 week residential with Adolescent Dogs, our trainer was Naomi who was brilliant. We decided to use Adolescent dogs as I found the online academy a great resource so decided to go a step further and book our Beagle in for a 3 week residential. We were having a few problems with our Beagle lunging at every dog or person who walked past and constant barking at any kind of strange noise in the house. We picked up our Beagle last week and the transformation is brilliant, it's only been a few days but we can now walk past people / dogs without any lunging, recall is brilliant as well as general settling at home. We were kept up to date every day during the 3 weeks with photos and videos, it was clear Naomi and our dog had formed a great bond. There's still some training left to do but the direction we're going is much clearer. I highly recommend Adolescent dogs and Naomi

Adolescent dogs has been absolutely incredible they have looked after my labrador for 5months for assistance dog training!! I can see how much he has grown in both age and ability and I can't thank the trainers enough (My lab had both Martin and Bekki) for looking after him ... he ended up staying with the trainers much longer than we first intended as I ended up in hospital for 6 months. They are very helpful with updating their clients throughout the residential stay and take the time to explain what is the next steps on handover. .I am so thankful for everything they have done for me and I totally recommend them.

Our 9 month old Spaniel Max stayed with Jane for 3 weeks while we were away and had a brilliant time! The training received was excellent and we were kept updated regularly with info on what he was learning, how to action it and photos of our pup! Knowing he was in a home environment and being cared for well was very reassuring for our first break away from him. Couldn't recommend them enough and we will certainly be using Adolescent Dogs again when we are next away
