What a great place to visit! I've lived in Sheffield for 14 years and only just discovered this little gem! It's free to visit, the cafe is fab - delicious food and super friendly staff. The volunteers for the hamlet were all so welcoming and knowledgeable. They took time to speak to our children and make it enjoyable for them - a fabulous visit, we will be back! :)

Wow. Loved this place. Looks frozen in time through sympathetic restoration. The machinery is awesome and otherworldly. The many stages from smelting the steel to the forging and grinding of the blades are well explained. Had a guy working on grinding ceremonial swords for the Army regiments when we visited. The cafe is very nice too. Limited parking at the site but there are other options to park further on near the millpond. Amazing educational and free attraction (donations welcome) .
