Difficult to rate as you cannot go in and only look. But views magnificent and house worth a look.

'A House for Essex' is a stunning construction in a forever favourite location of mine. However, all the builder did was put up the house, then leave the garden unlandscaped & increasingly forgotten. The back corner of the site is now an untended briar patch that detracts from & hides 'A House for Essex'. Essex is a county of gardeners, (most notably Beth Chatto, who lived just several miles away). However, no thought whatsoever gone into the garden here & the patch of grass & single tree look so uninspired next to such unique architecture. Some might also question the suitability of the fairytale architecture to this outback of rural Essex. Supposedly, "A House for Essex", but actually it more resembles an Orthodox chapel in eastern Europe. It's an absolutely fantastic design & I love it, but all the same, it seems so at odds with rural Essex to most of those who see it. Nonetheless, Grayson Perry's design has to be seen close up at least once in a lifetime. Just such a shame about the overgrown briar patch excuse for a hedgerow...
