I'm absolutely delighted with the work that Simon has undertaken on my Gibson Les Paul. Within minutes of meeting for our initial appointment, Simon had identified some issues that were likely affecting general playability and tone and explained how he'd remediate them. Simon's extremely courteous. I've been playing for around 20 years but my knowledge of guitar maintenance is, admittedly, lacking. Simon patiently listened to my questions regarding routine maintenance and provided very insightful and helpful advice in response. I've been looking for a guitar tech to whom I can return to, and trust, for some time. In 81 Guitar Works, I've found that tech. I have recommended, and will continue to recommend, Simon to others. I recently reached out to Simon for some much-needed electrical work on my Telecaster. I also inquired about setup and finishing, as my guitar had been neglected over the past few years. Simon was incredibly helpful right from the start, suggesting that I bring it in for a closer inspection. During our conversation he took the time to explain why my instrument was prone to certain issues. Based on Simon's advice, I decided to proceed with a fret level and general setup, alongside the necessary electrical repairs for a loose jack plug. I'm happy to say that my guitar is now sounding and feeling great, and I couldn't be happier with the service I received. I would definitely return to him for future setups. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience with 81 Guitar Works. Sent my Sigma acoustic in for the Standard Set-Up option and re-string. It came out the other side sounding clean, vibrant and now has a much better play-feel. The service was efficient and well organised; I would definitely recommend!

Simon is fantastic. My Strat has a bit of a ghost in the electronics (maybe a wire getting pinched somewhere), Simon spent loads of time examining it to identify the issue. He was really clear in talking me through the issue and how it can be resolved. Will definitely be coming back for all future guitar work. The only shame is he doesn’t live around the corner!
