I took my partner to 805 to introduce her to fine African dining. The food, staff and atmosphere really lived up to expectations. I will definitely be visiting again soon.

There is this guy that works as bartender, waiter, cashier and manager at the kendal branch, off Edgware Road that is nothing but a silly fraud. He tries to cheat and when you catch him in the act, he starts to become disrespectful and saucy.

Food has gone down over the last couple of years, the J rice used to have a special flavour to it which put it above others imo but that’s gone now. Wait always used to be long but on this occasion it was a lot longer. Jackie was an amazing server however, very pleasant and attentive.

My friend referred me here. After all the hype, I am very disappointed. But the fact we had to wait for an hour and no food yet is very annoying. It’s a public holiday and people are expected to turn up in high numbers, why will they have only 2 waiters on ground? I’m really fed up that I have to wait an hour and I can’t even see my food coming.

Delicious snail, though understandably pricey. I loved my ewa aganyin & dodo. My friend had chicken and jollof rice. The latter was well made with that smoky taste everyone in the know is looking for. Service was faster than I was expecting (in my experience, this is often where nigerian restaurants under perform, but not 805). I've deducted one star as there was no Gulder beer (why?!) and my waiter kept offering Heineken instead (if I wanted bloody Heineken, I'd have gone to my local!). We had a bottle of Shiraz instead that was surprisingly good. Also decor could be a little more African, but nothing is perfect. Overall very pleased & will definitely visit again.

A good start to try West African - Nigerian cuisine in a local restaurant. My Nigerian friend took me to explore his native cuisine. It was a good experience, and I might return to try more. This restaurant is worth checking out if you're looking for local and good Nigerian cuisine. However, the decor and food presentation could have been more memorable, unique - traditional. Santana is a starter, marinated and spicy gizzard, was perfectly seasoned with traditional Nigerian spices, providing a delightful taste without being too spicy. Unfortunately, tho some of it was a bit hard to chew. Another starter - Nkwobi, a delicacy made of cow foot mixed in spicy palm oil sauce, had a bitter taste and some of it a crunchy texture that I like, but overall it is not my cup of tea. For the main course, the grilled fish with smoked jollof rice, fried yum, and plantain was a better experience, especially the rice was a true standout - the flavours were rich, with tender fish perfectly cooked and seasoned. Just be sure to check with the staff if you have a low tolerance for spiciness, as the seasoning can be vibrant. Prices are reasonable for some dishes, but starters are overpriced.
