Dropped in for lunch on Saturday with wife (and dog!). Just spontaneous. Ended up staying for a couple of hours, having had a wonderful experience. The food and ambience were both perfect.

Nice restaurant that serves tapas sized dishes. Menu is very limited, but personally, I dont think that's an issue as long as you can find something you want to try. As its tapas style, we ordered 3 mains and 2 sides to share between 2 people, and that was plenty. Sourdough: I didn't try this, but there were 3 very large slices served with some butter. Fries: nice fries served with aioli mayo? Octopus: octopus served on a bed of potatoes. Decent but I wouldn't say it was worth the price. Lamb sweetheart: This was quite nice. Nice portion size, and I really enjoyed the taste. Lamb sweatheart with some potatoe slices and bits of bacon (?). Belly pork: Good portion size, and the pork had a crispy skin - similar to asian crispy belly pork. Relatively fatty, so if you dont enjoy fatty pork, then I wouldn't recommend it. Overall, the food was nice, but octopus wasn't worth the price, and the food in general was a tad bit salty but still nice The place offered to make any cocktail you wanted, but they dont have a menu for this . I ordered a mocktail pina colada and paid £6 for it. My friend ordered an orange juice, and that was £2.50. service charge 10% charged for any party size.

Very slow and confused service (our order was taken to other customers who arrived a few mins after us), drinks that we ordered were not brought, the waitresses needed prompting to remember to bring drinks that had been ordered, the wrong drinks were served, the wrong food was served). After 2 hours all of the ordered dishes hadn't been served and we had to leave for the theatre. I cannot comment on the deserts as we didn't get that far! Over the evening we were served by three waitresses. At one point one of the waitresses was sent to our table to perform a verbal Seppuku explaining that it was all her fault etc (to the embarrassment of all concerned). What kind of manager sends out a young probably minimum wage employee to do that? In the terms of the quality of the food the vegetarian small plates were served towards the end of the meal and were on the whole simply awful (beetroot under-seasoned and bland (ok if you are into a plate of par boiled beetroot), lettuce and ricotta (drenched in poor quality olive oil sprinkled with a few peas), baby leeks burnt the point of being tough and inedible. The mushroom and bean dish was well cooked. The sea bream ceviche was over-seasoned and just tasted of salt. They initially provided a full bill (removing the burnt food and the plates that hadn't been served), however, reconsidered and just charged us for the drinks. Just to clarify the review - the person that apologised introduced herself as our waitress not as a manager. Indeed, she stated that she needed to check things with her manager/ the owner. We didn't assume anything based on her gender! The view on her response to us was shared by all of the party - all of whom have had very senior managerial responsibility. The response from one of the female guests was - "well that was embarrassing who made her do that". Do we think the owner should have dealt with this directly without hiding in the kitchen? Absolutely. If your team doesn't perform to this extent then you 'carry the can' and sort it out. Did we want or expect a male owner to come out - not in your wildest dreams. I would add that the people most incensed by the quality of the food, service, and the ineptness of the response were the female members of the party. They were the ones who questioned the bill and discussed this with your staff. Clearly you haven't reviewed what happened with your staff. My own involvement on the day was to attempt to eat the food, apologise to my partner who wasn't able to eat anything (because it was either inedible or the food she wanted to eat and had ordered didn't arrive), feel very sorry for the serving staff, and be deeply embarrassed that I had recommended the restaurant. I am appalled that your response to the review was to attempt to smear the reviewer not to contact the reviewer to understand more about their perspective. Vegetarian options: Don't eat here if you are a vegetarian or vegan.
